"Would you like me to teach you the Excavaro Maxima charm so you can dig yourself even deeper?" Tanith asked with a grin.

He facepalmed, "Sorry."

"Relax Wally-Wol, I only bite when someone asks really nicely," said Tanith

A woman walking away from the castle crossed the path of the three students. She was of medium height and dressed in an old fashioned floor length gown, with a bustle and a stylish hat. She paused and looked at them.
"Good day," she said, since ignoring other people so close by would have been discourteous. "No lessons today?"

"No, ma'am." Walter didn't recognize her, "It's the start of duelsports, so we we're on half lessons. Can we help you with something?" He knew most of the professors by sight, and this wasn't one of them.

"No need," she said, "I'm just reminiscing."
She looked calmly amused at something.
"It has been a long time since I was at Hogwarts. I'll thank you to be polite enough not to guess how long." She looked to be in her forties but with Wizards and Witches who enjoyed a longer than normal lifespan it was often hard to estimate. She turned and looked up at the Ravenclaw tower. "I suppose we're all allowed a little nostalgia from time to time. An interesting word, nostalgia. It means the pain of returning."
She looked at Tanith first and then at the others.
"Enjoy your time here. They say that school days are the best of your lives."

Mary had followed the woman's gaze and was still looking up at the Ravenclaw tower.

"You don't have friends among the Ravenclaw pupils?" the woman asked Mary, seemingly out of nowhere.

Mary jumped, startled out of some reverie.
"What? Oh yes, yes I do. Sorry I was miles away. Thinking about something."

"Nostalgia," said the woman. "I'm very pleased to have met you. Don't let me detain you."
She nodded her head politely, old fashioned manners, and went on her way.

"Weird." Walter watched her leave, before he continued walking again. "I do hope..." He shook his head. "Anyway, I wonder what she's doing here. I mean, she's not a professor. And with the heightened security..."

"Maybe she's Mrs Voldemort," said Tanith with a grin. "Relax Wally-Wol, the security is so high she must be on the level. NOt a teacher though. Maybe a parent visiting? Though I don't recognise her. Maybe another transfer from Avalon is on the way."
She pulled a sour face.
"On a brighter note I know the outline of a corset when I see one. If she comes back in I must ask her where she gets hers made." Tanith had a fondness for theatrical outfits.

"You like to wear corsets?" It was out of his mouth before he could help himself.

Tanith grinned. "Why do you want to know?"

"I thought people stopped wheeling those like...a century ago." He blushed.
