Post by Jasper Hobbs on Jun 14, 2017 19:20:44 GMT
NAME: Jasper Hobbs, Esquire DOB: January 8th, 1896 NATIONALITY: British CLASSIFICATION: Pureblood Squib LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English, French HISTORY: Jasper Hobbs was born into a life of relative ease and prosperity. His parents were firmly situated in the upper-middle class, and he reaped the benefits of a loving and happy childhood. It became apparent early on that he had no magical talent whatsoever, and rather than face the embarrassment of sending Jasper away to a wizarding school only to watch him fail, the Hobbs family instead began having him train under a local potions master. The boy showed a deft hand for that kind of work, and had the war not intervened, would have soon become a co-manager in the shop and perhaps one day an owner, rather than only an apprentice.
The war did intervene, however, and whatever future he might have had before the war vanished. He joined up with the muggle military the day after Britain declared war on Germany (Aug 5, 1914) and after training was sent across the Channel to fight in France. For four years he was shunted from battlefield to battlefield, first as a plain soldier, and then, as his skill with healing and medicine became noticed, as a battlefield medic.
When the war was over he was sent home, but he was not the same as he had been before the war. He suffered from nightmares and frequent panic attacks. After an unsuccessful few months on his own, he agreed to move back into his parents home until he could readjust.
Just two years after the war, tragedy struck again in the form of the Spanish Flu. His parents were both gone before he was able to concoct a cure. Devastated by their loss, Jasper went into a rage and began destroying their home and himself. His sister, Hazel Hobbs, two years his junior, was only able to stop him with a well placed body-bind hex. It was the only time she had ever used magic on him against his will. Despite this, or perhaps because some part of him recognized the fragility of his mental state, he agreed to move into her home above her pet shop in a quiet neighborhood of London.

Post by Hazel Hobbs on Jun 14, 2017 19:23:47 GMT
NAME: Hazel Hobbs DOB: July 17th, 1898 NATIONALITY: British CLASSIFICATION: Pureblood LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English, French HISTORY: Hazel Hobbs, the second child of Daniel and Edith Hobbs and younger sister to Jasper Hobbs, was born on a blustery July afternoon in 1898. Unlike her older brother, Hazel was no squib, and so when she turned 10 they sent her to Shipton's Academy for British Witches, an all-girls school for young ladies from well-to-do families. Hazel flourished at Shipton’s, becoming one of the first ladies in the school’s history to receive a perfect ‘O’ in Magical Defense as well as Care, Study, and Protection of Magical Species at the NEWT level.
Animals were the joy of her world, and she delighted in spending every spare hour she could caring for the school’s menagerie of creatures. When she graduated in 1915, the war had been on for a year with no end in sight. Her scores and experience landed her a position in a division in the African Campaign, caring for, training and deploying erumpents and fwoopers. The fwoopers were her particular specialty. She had a knack for working with winged creatures.
After the war ended she considered going home, but when she learned that the young man, a friend of her brother’s with whom she had had a tentative engagement had been killed in one of the last battles of the war, she decided to stay. Hazel spent a further year studying various native creatures in Africa before returning to England and opening a little pet shop in a quiet London neighborhood. The shop catered to both muggle and magical clientele by use of a clever little magical mechanism that shifted the shop between two planes.
After the death of her parents to Spanish Flu in 1919, her older brother, who was suffering from what muggles were calling ‘shell shock’ moved into her home above the shop. She has tried to revive his interest in potion work, but it is an uphill battle. For the most part, she is content to let him help with the animals. They seem to comfort him.

Post by Evan Jenkins on Jun 19, 2017 11:56:00 GMT
NAME: Evan Jenkins DOB: November 3rd, 1895 NATIONALITY: British CLASSIFICATION: Muggleborn LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English HISTORY: Evan had a fairly normal youth as a muggleborn wizard. He attended Hogwarts while still keeping in touch with his muggle friends and family. Since primary school, he had a good friend in Jasper Hobbs, and during his summers he could often be found wherever Jasper was.
He’d started training to become a ___ when the war broke out. Despite pleading from his family, Evan simply didn’t feel right staying in safety while his nation, family and friends were under threat. When Jasper marched to war, he marched with him.
He couldn’t openly use magic in battle, Statute of Secrecy and all that, but his battalion did seem to have incredible luck and its soldiers tended to miraculously recover from wounds that might have killed anyone else. It was not enough. There were too often situations where Evan could have saved someone or prevented destruction but wasn’t allowed to because of the Statute and had to watch his friends be ripped to shreds.
Anno 1920, he has serious issues with the Statute, but in the current anti-Grindelwald sentiment that is a very dangerous opinion to have, even though his reasons are perhaps more valid.

Post by Evelyn Winters on Jun 24, 2017 22:57:03 GMT
NAME: Evelyn Winters DOB: December 25th, 1898 NATIONALITY: British CLASSIFICATION: Pureblood LANGUAGES SPOKEN: English, French HISTORY: Evelyn is the eldest daughter of the Winters family, a well-respected English, Pureblood line. She has a younger brother, Henry, and due to a fair age gap they often have very little to do with one another, especially as they went to different schools.
When Evelyn turned 10 she became a student at Shipton’s Academy for British Witches, which is where she met Hazel Hobbs, who she is still good friends with to this day. Where her friend Hazel was academically inclined and shone, Evelyn had a charming yet meddlesome streak and was more interested in social circles and enjoying her time at Shipton’s to worry too much about grades. While this annoyed her professors to no end, her one saving grace was her talent with Numerology, and Magical Defense (of course she was second behind Hazel). These were some of the very few things that made them turn a blind eye to her more frivolous antics (that and her family lineage of course). Despite being very much the opposite of one another, the two girls became, and stayed, close friends.
Once her time at Shipton’s was over, Evelyn was still very much a free spirit with little career prospects in mind, so she took a role in her mother’s charity organization which focused on helping less fortunate young witches. Despite it’s good intentions, this was more of a cover for planning extravagant balls and occasions for interested investors. During this time she was courted by several wizards, but while all was fun at first, as with everything, Evelyn became restless.
Currently still co-running her mother’s charity, Evelyn lives in a modest London apartment, strictly magical building of course. Between meetings and luncheons regarding potential donations and supporters, she visits Hazel’s pet shop to regularly catch up with her friend.
