Two days after the night on the roof a sign up sheet for Albrass's DADA Duelsports went up in all the common rooms. Hayley stood in front of it, considering.
They couldn't keep her safe forever, she couldn't just hide at Hogwarts and pretend everything would just blow over. Practical training would be a good precaution to take. She signed her name quickly before she could change her mind. It wasn't till the Spring anyway, there was plenty of time to practice before then. The others might want to practice too, come to think of it. She smiled. That would be fun.*
When Scarlet had first heard about Duelsports she'd immediately been interested. She'd always enjoyed the whole survival training aspect of life that came with exploring large forests as a child, and challenges and Defense against the Dark Arts seemed a good mix with it.
She smiled at Hayley as Scarlet signed her name underneath hers. "Sounds like it should be fun. Not sure about being paired up with people from other houses and years," Her mind wandered to the older Slytherins, "But I think it would be good to get some variety."*
"I'm sure it'll work out....we should practice sometime before though." Her thoughts had been in the same vein.*
"Mind if I join in?" Robert said as he came up and signed his name to the list. He and Hayley could still not seem more than incidental friends in public, but he had a more daring - reckless - attitude after the roof party about being around her.
"Maybe if we're going to be teamed up with people from other houses, we should see about training with them too?" Serenity and Walter came to mind. "We'll have to wait until Allbrass gives us some more information though, or we won't have any idea what we'll want to practice."
He smiled at both of them*
"I can talk to Walter...and I'm sure Annie and Serenity would want in." Hayley grinned at him. "And that other girl, Walter's friend...Miraim?" She looked at the two of them for confirmation.*
She nodded, "Yeah, I think that was her name. Also keep in mind, that it isn't just other houses, but other years, so they might take one person from each house and each year, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, and then one from each house." She said thoughtfully.
"I don't know if they will, but it's a possibility, also that would be more fair because that way each tean has the same range of knowledge within it."*
"Do we know anyone of a different year?"*
Orev Rabbinowitz hadn't spoken to the underclassmen in a while. He had cut off his contact with Sophia, and was pleased to see she was integrating with those her own age. He was keeping an eye on her from afar for a while as he made friends in his own year. However when the duelsports signups went up he had been eager to sign his names. His friends weren't so eager.
He made his way through the 4th years, mumbling "Excuse me." and signed his name on the sheet.*
Robert felt very stupid all of a sudden.
"Right," he mumbled.*
Orev stepped back from the chart, after looking over the names.
"You guys are signed up. Good. No one I'm close with is."
He turned on his heels, hands in his pockets, and strolled off, his mind set on finding Anne to let her know the latest news in the Roost. As he left he passed Sophia and let the faintest smile pass over his lips.

Sophie had been in the library, working on an essay, when she overheard kids talking that the duelsports signups were up in the common rooms. She had quickly headed over to the common room to sign up.
"Hey guys." she said, paying no notice to Orev. "I'm super excited. Hope I get a good group." She pulled out a quill and scribbled her name on.*
Christopher moved over to the sign-up board also and signed his name at the bottom, "I'm looking forward to this, what better than a proper practical assignment that lasts for days involving my favourite lesson?" He said, grinning. "Though I hope I'm with people that know what they're doing, I don't want to be stuck with anyone that isn't taking it seriously."*
Sophie smiled.
"I'm doing it because James said I should learn to stand up for myself. It's a good thing to know. He's joining it too."
*
Christopher wasn't sure if he wanted to come face to face with James during Duelsports, he didn't know if he was protective or not over his little sister, and Christopher wasn't sure if he wanted to find out.
"Is he protective over you, when it comes to guys?" Christopher asked aloud. "I'm just thinking I don't really want to meet him for the first time in battle, not knowing he wants to kill me." He joked.*
Sophie laughed.
"He was a bit overprotective when I was 'dating'-" she used air-quotes "-my first boyfriend, Desmond. But he isn't all that protective. He might want to have a chat with you or something, but he won't do anything drastic. And he certainly won't kill you."
She grinned. "He's more of a trickster than anything. He likes a good laugh."*
"That really puts my mind at ease." He teased, "Oh well, at least I know he's not going to try and do me any serious injury in the arena, I can handle a few practical jokes."
"So when is the first practice?" He asked the people standing nearer the notice, he couldn't quite see from where he was stood.*
