"Dinner, I think.' Walter rubbed his head with his free hand. "I got a little caught up talking about potions again. You?"

What was he suggesting? "Strong Liquor?" He grinned.
He let go of Sophie's hand and put his arm around her shoulders, "Lighten up, Soph, we're just joking around, you know that." He said with a relaxed smile.

"Right, right, of course." Her smile grew rigid. "I know. Are you making the invites again, or is this going to be word of mouth?" Her question was directed at Annie.

"Likewise." She smiled back at Mary. She seemed sweet.
"Great, I'm headed down there too, if you don't mind..." She trailed off, gesturing to the books, "I need to get started on all of this." She added with a grimace.

"Word of mouth, I think. If you run into your friends before we do, you can pass it along. You know, Robert, Ela, Scarlet. The usual crew."

Robert approached the group on the fifth floor, though he wasn't paying much attention to what was in front of him. His nose was buried in Everything you wanted to know that they never wanted to teach you. Anne Boleyn, his owl, was on his shoulder and from the way she held her head, gave the impression she was reading along with him. The owl had been clingy lately.
He would have passed the group if not for a subconscious jolt of recognition. He stopped and looked up. "Oh, hey Scarlet. Walter." He looked between all of them, confused. "What are you all doing here?"

"Going down to the Great Hall. You're welcome to tag along." Walter had become a little less worried about Robert as the months had passed. He hadn't come out of his shell much, but, he looked a little better.

Christopher could sense Sophie's continued tension and internally rolled his eyes. Girls.
He nodded, "We'll let them know. Anyone else coming?"

"Mostly Gryffindors. Walter. Miri. We'll have to see who shows up."

"It's an open invitation. Just, you know, no real troublemakers."

"Don't invite Slytherins. Though we made an exception for Scarlet's boyfriend, if she wants to bring him."

"Walter and Mary stopped to help." Scarlet gestured to her books once more.
She always felt she wanted to say something more to Robert, but like always, she held back at the last moment. They'd never been particularly close after all, and it had been more pronounced since Christmas. She'd learnt to leave him to his own devices.
However, she still nodded when Walter suggested he joined them.

"Dammit, all my Slytherin buddies are going to be so disappointed." He drawled sarcastically.
He didn't know what was going on with Scarlet and Julius these days, she didn't really talk to Christopher about it all that much. It was always rather awkward. "Thanks, I'll let Scarlet know."

Up in the corridor Mary watched the others quietly. They all seemed to know each other so well, were so comfortable with each other. She'd never been slow at making friends but something told her these people had been through a lot together. A shared story binds people closer and these people had that closeness. She couldn't help noticing though...
"You look upset," she said quietly to Robert, "I'm sorry if I'm intruding. Is there anything I can do?"
There was a weight on him, a darkness weighing him down, she knew it, though she did not know what it was.
